253 incunabula
A monastery library is attested to the earliest time of the Premonstratensian Monastery of Wilten, confirmed by Pope Innocent II in 1138. In a deed of donation from 1140, the authenticity of which has not been confirmed, books are listed alongside liturgical implements.
Some handwritings and numerous incunabula are still available from the 14th and 15th centuries. There is also news about book borrowings and the names of some writers from the Wilten scriptorium.
