Features

The Gothic Museum is the latest attraction at Admont Abbey. The permanent exhibition CLOSE TO HEAVEN: Art of the Middle Ages presents 85 late Gothic masterpieces in fascinating surroundings. The internationally significant exhibits come from the art collection of patron Kuno Mayer.

Proximity to God and worldly splendor, art and culture are merged into one.

The selection of late Gothic masterpieces combined in this permanent exhibition - ranging from the "beautiful Madonnas" dating to the early 15th century to works by Niklaus Weckmann from Ulm and the South Tyrolean master Hans Klocker from Brixen give only a brief overview of an era that was the richest and most fertile in art history. Some works from the Kuno Mayer Collection have already been shown in important Gothic exhibitions, but they are now together for the first time in Admont Abbey!
